Honk was a ‘grump’ and often in a huff. If Jess told him off, the old gander went back to the cow shed to sulk.

Honk, the old gander, slept in a big nest in the cow shed at Duck Pond Farm. He was very fond of Jess, the farmer’s daughter and she was fond of him, but Honk became very jealous of other animals on the farm. Whenever Jess fed the pig, the hens or the ducks, Honk put down his long neck and hissed at them. If Jess thought he was behaving too badly, she told him off and the old gander waddled back to the cow shed to sulk. On one particular day, Honk was in a huff in the cow shed when some horrible things were done to the farm animals. Read the story about the awful goings-on, how Honk came to the rescue and became the hero of Duck Pond Farm.
